Background: Hubs and I bought our first house last summer - a 1960 brick ranch to be exact. We are only the second owners of our humble abode, and we've been dedicated to fixing it up "one room at a time", hence my tagline.
Our master bedroom was high on the priority list. We wanted a relaxing and stylish place to end our nights and start our days. We started with this...
Tan walls, brown floors, brown baseboards, brown window trim, and yes that's a very blue bathroom you see there. But don't worry we've already fixed that issue...
Sorry, I digress...
One of the first things we did (before we moved in actually) was have the original 50+ year old hardwood floors refinished and stained a darker color...
Fast forward a little and we were freshly moved in... (newly stained floors and all)
But still a lot of work ahead of us...
Next step: Paint
Then we tore out and replaced all the trim, baseboard, and interior doors throughout the entire house. What a difference that made in itself!
And I knew just what I wanted to do....

One of my favorite corners in the house. |
Childhood nightstand, frames from Marshall's, lamp from Homegoods. |
The shams and duvet are from Pottery Barn. The grey throw on the end of the bed is from Overstock. The front pillow was from RuLaLa. |
Custom roman shades in a gorgeous ivory linen - lovingly crafted by my mother-in-law! |
Candlesticks and frames are from Homegoods. |
I hope you liked your tour of our master bedroom just as much as our
little pooch loves all that white bedding! ;)

What a beautiful room! I'm so glad I found you through Courtney's blog today! Your table was amazing that she featured (:
ReplyDeleteRachel, I'm making it to this Master Bedroom Link Party at the very last minute. On your hosting day it was my Son's Birthday & my room wasn't quite ready. However, I did write this about you on that post: "You will be incredibly impressed with Nashville’s own Just a Touch of Gray’s Master Bedroom. It was been a delight to become acquainted with the beautiful Rachel. You can tell she and her husband have already created a beautiful family together. The presence of children do not make a family. The marriage union of man and woman begins a family. I love to see how she & her husband work together on their projects. Their Master Bedroom is another example of their brilliance in restoration of their home and decorating. My favorite is the last photo with her adorable dog. You will have to go there to see it! ;)" Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteOooops! That was supposed to be "It HAS {not was} been a delight..." lol I edited the post version on my site. :D
ReplyDeleteI am looking for a perfect grey for my bathroom. Can you share you bedroom color please?
ReplyDeleteSome architects don't consider this when they design the home, but hopefully there is one or inner walls that will work, without blocking the entry to the room. I personally only have two walls where my king- sized bed can be placed.
ReplyDeleteJust found your post! I have been looking all over for a dresser from the Edland Series from Ikea for my mom. I can't seem to find it...and Ikea doesn't sell it anymore. Her favorite part of the white drop knobs from them. Do you still have the original knobs from your dressers?
ReplyDeleteIt'd be great if you could let me know. Email: JeanineGlennPhotography@gmail.com
Thanks so much!
fantastic place to hang out. i really appreciate your work.
